Talent Agencies

Several large agencies tour the country with a model search, a beauty contest with the purpose of finding the next Christy, Tyra or Claudia. As long as there's a reputable agency behind it and the entry fees aren't too extravagant (most, though not all, model search contests will have entry fees), a model search is a good way to at least meet people in the industry.
The most expensive option is to attend a modeling convention. Entry fees tend to be high, but you get the opportunity to meet representatives from several different agencies all at the same time (and the chance to learn more about the industry in general).
IT IS YOUR DUTY AS AN MODEL TO MAIL YOUR PORTFOLIOS TO AGENCIES, CASTING DIRECTORS, PRODUCTION COMPANIES. THE PROCESS COSTS A LOT OF MONEY AND TAKES A LOT OF YOUR VALUABLE TIME. IF YOU ARE PATIENT AND CONSISTENT YOU WILL SEE SOME RESULTS. MOST OF THE TIME YOUR HEADSHOTS WILL END UP IN THE TRASH OR A BIG FILE WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHER RESUMES.
Once the agency gets a look at you and decides it likes what it sees, an agent will arrange for you to have portfolio pictures taken, a composite card printed, and a resume put together. Again, you must remember that you are trying to make money, not spend it, so don't pend money on portfolios until you get signed up with an agency. The agency will probably have a specific look in mind for you anyway, and they'll want to start from scratch. A modeling portfolio (book) is what you take along to modeling interviews. In your portfolio are a series of shots taken by an agency-recommended photographer, and it reflects the agency's marketing strategy for you.

Talking about agencies and everything, I find that they want to know what you have done in the past in acting and modeling for example but except for school plays and childrens theatre theres not much more!
I want to get discovered to be able to do commercials, TV, film, print , modeling etc.
If they find you dont have enough experience, they dont take they time to look at your resume!
I want an agent that can help me acheive my goals!!
Visit my site @ lauramichalovic.starsearchcasting.com
You wont regret it and you wont be disappointed!!
Thank you

I know what you are feeling. I live in Poland there is nothing like the real business. Find an agent is almost impossible when you live outside the area. So Agents try to find a new Talents outside the US;P For example in Poland;P

It is not bad to call an agency, however, remember that they are busy people. Try to keep the conversation short. Give them your name and ask if they are accepting submissions for new talent. If they are, get the current mailing address, and thank them for their time. If not, thank them for their time and hang up. (You can try again in a month or two.) The mail in your current headshot and resume, along with a short cover letter with a brief statement about your goals. If the agency is interested, you will hear from them within 6-8 weeks. (Don't call them and ask if they got your material, they get hundreds to thousands of submissions on a daily basis.) If you don't hear from them, don't get discouraged. Just try someone else. You may even try the same agency again in a few months.
Hope this helps!

Do a search for Lana Veenker Casting... she is based in Oregon, and she might have a list of agents there as well!
